Hi, I'm Vadzim Krautsou, an astrophysicist, doctoral researcher at Turku HEA group.
Welcome to my web page! Here you will find information about myself and my scientific interests. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding my work or in case you want to collaborate with me.
I will try to keep this website up-to-date, but you can check my account at ResearchGate just in case.
Short review of my recent studies
I am interested in the physics of stellar-mass black holes, which I try to probe by modelling state of the art high-precision optical (DIPol-UF) and X-ray (IXPE) polarimetric observations of low- and high-mass X-ray binaries.
In my dissertation, I explore the physical processes resulting in the production of orbitally variable optical and X-ray polarization in XRBs. We have made simple analytical models describing this variations, which allows us to extract the orbital parameters of such systems by modelling the observational data.
I have conducted one of the most comprehensive systematic studies of the polarization behaviour of LMXBs and HMXBs. The LMXB dataset includes famous sources like MAXI J1820+070, A0620-00, Swift J1727-1613, XTE J1118+480. The HMXB sources include Cyg X-1, LS I +61 303, LS 5039, and 1A 0535+262.
